Work: Untitled: Peninsular (2016)
Peninsular is an independent artist space run by artists Guo-Liang Tan and Cheong Kah Kit in Singapore. I had worked with them and curator Sidd Perez to present a work-in-progress as a context for discussion and experimentation. As a performance-based lecture that was presented to an audience in the space adjacent to the installation, Sidd and I created a framework of speaking to/over/with each other to echo and magnify the ideas of displacement, recognition, and listening in the installational work. In addition, a zine, rooted in Sidd's and my migratory trajectories and anxieties about our home countries, was made with Peninsular, designed by Currency Design, to tease out ideas in the installation and lecture in publication form. The activity took place in November 2016.
In this section, you can see views of the single-channel multi-screen projection installation in the space, and pictures of Sidd and me prepping. A PDF of the zine is included.
